Chapter 7: Ekrizoō

With Aphrodite by his side, Ares returned home to inform his mother, Hera,
about their affair and the child they were expecting.
He wanted to be the one to break the news,
hoping to avoid any gossip that might reach her ears first.

Upon their arrival, they found Enyalios playing the violin.

As soon as he was done playing, Ares hugged him and told him he was to have a sibling.

Enyalios wasn't sure what to think or feel
since he had grown up as the only child under Hera’s care.

Their conversation was interrupted by Hera, who asked the purpose of their visit.

When Ares and Aphrodite revealed the news, Hera angrily reacted.
She despised Aphrodite, not only for her audacity in playing around with both of her sons—
Hephaestus and Ares—but also for now bearing Ares’s child instead of Hephaestus’s.

Sensing his mother’s wrath and fearing for the safety of their unborn child,
Ares knelt before Hera and plead for her forgiveness.

Hera reached out her hand to Ares, signifying that she has forgiven him.
What he didn't know is that she had other plans in mind.

Meanwhile, Poseidon returned home after an encounter with Medusa.

To cover up his infidelity, he tried to make love with Libya.

Libya, however, immediately noticed an unfamiliar scent on him and became very suspicious.

She confronted him if he had been unfaithful,
but Poseidon vehemently and angrily denied it.

Libya had reached her limit with his constant infidelities and refused his advances.

Enraged by her rejection, Poseidon stormed out, leaving her and their two sons,
Agenor and Belus, behind.

The boys, witnessing the confrontation,
were saddened by the growing rift between their parents.

Libya, likewise, was so heartbroken she fell to her knees twice,
weakened by the pain that has weighed her down seeing the love of her life
slowly disappearing into the rain.
