Chapter 12: Anathema

As the youngest gods in the pantheon, Cain, Ares, Hephaestus, and Physis have reached adulthood. Among them, Cain, being the oldest, fully understands all that has happened. Despite this, the older gods are still tangled up in their own complicated relationships and affairs.

Ares surrounded by spirits of the ancient gods

Zeus and Adam both have doubts about whether they are the true fathers of Hephaestus and Physis, respectively.

Adam feels the same way with Physis.

Meanwhile, Hera's desire for Adam could not keep her from seeing him,
even as Cain observes her secret visits.

Though Eve is aware of Hera's presence, she remains torn by guilt over her own affair with Zeus.

Across the Garden of Eden, the sea god, Pontos,
seeks the assistance of Khaos in calming the restless Tartaros,
who has been acting suspiciously of late.

Meanwhile, the god of sleep, Hypnos, conspires with Aither and Thalassa
to interfere in Zeus' and Hera's relationships with mortals, Adam and Eve.

As Hypnos aims to win Hera's affections for himself,
ancient, forgotten gods watch from the shadows.
